Week 12

Only 6 weeks left in the regular season and things are getting quite interesting in the race for the divisional playoffs.

 

Division A/B

Nine of the ten teams in the A/B Division remain in contention for the A Division playoffs. This is very exciting and every week brings new twists.  Read some of the write-ups below:

 

20-20 Carpet stays in the race with a 13 -  7 win over the Eagles. On the scene, the 20/20 field correspondent ML reports, "Winning pitcher John Speranza was supported by the hot hitting of Jorge Garcia who collected 3 hits on the day including 2 tremendous home runs. Mike Lea and Doc Thorne also had great days picking up 3 hits each. Mike Deambrosia, Bob Ramundo, and Howie Kirshner  also had nice days getting 2 hits each."  Eagle's freelancer AB adds these comments, "In a losing cause, the Eagles rapped out 18 hits, and left on base 9 men.  Billy M, Julio F and Neil M had 3 hits each, while Francis M, Dario D'A, Steve V  and Jon K had 2 hits each, with Chris S adding 1 hit."

 

Pearl River Saloon pulls within 2 games of 1st with win over Thunder 6 - 4: Reported by the Thunder team correspondent, "With many missing players on vacation thunder fielded a fine team but still lost to the Saloon."

 

B's Nest puts a hurt on the 1st Place All American boys 22-7, pulling into a tie for 1st with the aforementioned leaders.

 

Sign Creations couldn't take advantage of the duel betwen B's Next and All American, dropping a close one to the Elks 6-4, creating a 3-way tie at the top of the A/B Division.

 

Division C/D

Seven teams out of eleven remain in contention for the C Division playoffs.

 

Knights pulling themselves up to make a race of things in C/D.  In a shocking event Knights stole a victory from Panthers 21-20. Pans pawed Knights Pitcher Bobby Bodnar in the first three to take a 12 to 5 lead. Knight’s Mitch Saul replaces Bobby after giving a few run held the Pans scoreless. Knights Bobby came back in 7th gave a few more runs but shut down the Pans after that.  Starting in the bottom of 7th the Knights lay siege of the castle and throwing catapult hits after hits with some Pans mischief to get to the bottom of the 9th behind 20-12. John Genovesi starts it off with the fourth of five hits in the day.  One out and then 6 batters got hits along with 2 walks and important costly error that could of ended the game right there. Now two out. John G came through with his fifth hit follow by Hawk Rehad (who also had a fine game) go on. The Shawn (Speedy) shot a double up the middle scoring two for the 9th run and the stealing victory. The loss puts the Panthers on the brink of elimination from the C Division playoff, but remaining a top team in the D Division.

 

Joe & Joe keeps the pressure on the top teams with a decisive 9-0 victory over the Rockhounds. The on field reporter indicated that every J&J player contriubtes to the win.

 

Angels lose a nail biter to ODB 13-11, allowing the Dirty Boys to climb back into the hunt for the C Division playoffs.

 

Hibs keep rolling with a decsive 26 - 9 onslaught of the Mavericks.

 

BL Deadheads keep pace at the top with a strong showing, getting the better of the Blazers 8-1. Now in a tie for 2nd with the Angels. One game out of first.
