Division A/B
All-American keeps applying pressure, staying at the top of the division behind the combined pitching of Dennis Tarantino and Chris Krishna, All American shoots down the Eagles, 20-2. Chris Krishna and Josh Warren supplied the power, while Craig Van Sise, Sal Lembo, Vince Palmieri, and Phil Prince all contributed with multiple hits.
Pearl River Saloon climbs back into the hunt with a 16-15 thriller over TRIAD.
Sign Creations sends a message to the teams at the top that they are here to play. Taking it to the Mustangs 16-1.
B's Nest remains on top, outlasting the Thunder 6-5.
Division C/D
Deadheads over Fireside 11-10 in a nail-biter over reigning Division C champions in twelve innings. Heads avenge one of their two losses and salvage a split with Fireside.It was a seasaw battle all morning, with great pitching and stellar pitching by both teams. In the bottom of the 12th Mark E.( this writer) singled for the walk off winning run, capping off his birthday (56) morning. Heads continue to keep pace in playoff run, making a move toward Division C playoffs.
Joe & Joe oust the Angels 6-1 in a game that saw few hits due to good defense plays and very strong pitching exhibited by both teams. Joe & Joe keep the pressure on at the top of Div C/D, while the Angels drop their 2nd in a row, needing to regroup next week against the Hibs to keep pace for the Div C playoffs.
Panthers stun the Hibernians 7-6, knock the Hibs out of 1st Place.
In the game of the week, the Dodgers flash the leather in the field and this writer is still trying to figure out how they put together the hits to post nine runs en route to a stellar shootout of the Rockhounds.
In a seesaw battle Blazers beat Knights 15-14. Knights lead 11-6 till the bottom of 4th. Where Blazers pepper hits to right field and a right field for Knights drop a few leading to 6 runs for a 12-11 lead. Both Knight’s Bobby in Bottom (6th) and then Blazer’s Eric (in 7th) exchange 3 runs but they shut down the other innings in next four innings for 15-14 Blazer lead.
Mavericks slow down ODB, 11-6. The Mavericks opened the game plating five runs in the top of the 1st inning. Eddie(3-5, 2RS & 2 RBIs) started the scoring off with a base hit. Nelson(sunglasses) also 3-5 2RS 1RBI, also stroked a single. Tony Santiago(3-4 1RS & 3RBIs) roped a base knock driving in Eddie. Rich P drove in Nelson. Tommy's Sac Fly plated another run and Mike T(2-4 1RS & RBI) & Big Mike(2-3, RS & RBI) capped the rally. The Mavericks added two in the 2nd with Big Pete, Dave D(3-4 RS & RBI), Eddie & Tony contributing. A lone run in the 4th, a walk to Big Mike,hits by Ken(Stretch) & an RBI single by Dave D. made it 8-1. In the 7th the Mavs scored 3x with Big Pete, Eddie, Nelson & Tony adding to the score. 11-3 ODB scored single runs in the 6th & 7th frame off Tommy. They mustered 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th. 11-6. With a runner on 1B and two outs Rich made a diving stop on a ball scorched up the middle and flipped it to Nelson at 2B base for a much deserved win by the Mavericks.
