2022 - Updates for June 12 (Week 7)

Despite the overcast clouds and intermittent downpours, most of the teams were able to squeeze their game in on Sunday. Here are the recaps:

Division I

Any given Sunday is the theme this week in Division I.

The Bandits surprise the top team Eye Adventure, playing flawless defense and leveraging one big run inning to hold off the defending champs 12-7.

The Angels move into the thick of the standings and win in a pitching / defensive gem over the former 2nd place Pearl River Saloon, 4-2.

TRIAD creeps up into the top half of the standings with a fantastic hitting display against Tri-State Carpet, 21-9.

Elks continue to impress and define their place at the top of the division with another solid win, this time against the struggling Halligan's.

Mustangs win in a no contest game over Sparky's Diner.

Copper Still showed up in force and pressing the go button on hitting, fielding and pitching, in a lop-sided win over the Hibernians 19-1. There is now a 3-way tied for 1st in the Division.

Division II

DEADHEADS  WIN! DEADHEADS WIN! THHHHE DEADHEADS WIIIIIN!
Heads continue to roll, winning back to back games after a sluggish start. In fact, other than the undefeated Blazers we now own the longest winning streak in the division. Lol.   This one was not easy, as it took 10 innings to squeak past the Knights who had battled back from 6 or 7 runs down to take a lead in the bottom of the 8th. The Heads tied it in the 9th and won it in the 10th.   Hitting stars were; Val(3-3,3 RBI) Adam (3-5, 3 RBI),Lee (3-5) and Mike C.(4-5,2 RBI). Mike is now 8-10( would be 9-10 if TRAPPED ball was ruled a hit. Lol) in last two games.    Great Defense led by some usual fine play by Lee, Tom and Tony contributed to the win.     We could not have done it without the steady and reliable pitching of Steve. Deadheads are “ undefeated “ since his return to the lineup. Coincidence?
Great game, Knights. Truly a pleasure. Always great seeing you guys.   G.F. D!

The Blazers outlast the Panthers in the battle for the top in Divison II. The 14-13 loss by the Panthers highlights that the place kicker issue might be worse than originally anticipated. That extra point means a lot.

The Mavericks make a turnaround and hold off the Dodgers, 20-17 to notch their 2nd win of this young season.
