WEEK 11-  June 23 - A very hot day!

Here are the game recaps as reported from the field ...

Division 1:

Updates Pending.

Division 2:

[6/23/24, AP, Garnerville, NY, reporting done by Skipper25 Wire Service]:   The Eagles have hit a dry spell, after racing out to a 2-game standing lead, are now in a tie with the Dead Heads.  While 10 runs, 15 hits and 3 walk were not enough, the Birds were outgunned by the H-men 14 runs. Halligans never trailed in the game. Every time the Eagles made a comeback, H's put up another 3 runs. The 3-man Halligans OF stymied the Birds all game as they hauled in all twiners.

On some Eagles' bright notes, Billy R continues his hot hitting, with 4-5, 3 Runs, Rbi, and Ed K was 3-4, Rbi and is off to a real good start after 1.5 years on the DL. Others: Wilkey was 1-3, 2 Runs, 2 walks; George V is 2-3, Run, RBI;  the Special Agent Specialist Louis V went 1-3, walk, Run; and newcomer Austin K 2-4, Run, Rbi.

The Eagles look to next week's round 2 game vs Knights before the mid-season All Star classic. This year's event will be held at the Old Hook Mountain Sports Complex, located in Blue Sky, NY, 15 miles North from the NC Court House. Buses leave every half hour, consult the web site for details ----- RocklandSeniorSoftball

[Deadheads win! Theeeee DEADHEADS WIN!]:  Barry’s team came “BLAZING” onto our turf, sporting a 21 run per game average. Tom P. said; “Not today, not in our house and not against me”. He put out the blaze, allowing only 7 runs in earning his 8th complete game victory of the season. The Heads have now rolled to 6 straight and have climbed into a first place ( the birdies currently own the tiebreaker)tie with the Eagles..
Big hits by Eli,Nedward and Brandon powered us to a 7-4 lead, heading into the 8th inning. In the meantime some stellar defense , led by Eli, Tony, Nedward and Brandon.( Brandon made a sensational diving grab of a screaming line drive that was highlight worthy.) safeguarded the lead.
The Blazers tied the game at 7 on a monster 3 run Homer by their big newcomer, in the top of the 8th.
With 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th,huge consecutive hits by Eli,Nedward,Brandon, Tony and Lee gave Tom the 3 run cushion he needed to earn the “W” He proceeded to put them down in order and in so doing, we survived the scare. Great game Blazers. It was fun.
Next week we travel out west to Orchard Hills ( Aren’t the Dodgers supposed to play in LA and not Buffalo) to take on Tom ( other Tom) and the Dodgers in a rematch of last year’s Championship Series. The Dodgers are nipping at our heals, one game back. It should be a beauty. Good luck guys.
