Division 2:

AP, Lake Nanuet, NY, on the Big Bird Network (BBN), NY, 6/30/24:   The Eagles came out hot and all winged up, besting the Sir Knights. George V pitched a great game giving up 4 runs for the complete game W. Battery Mate Charlie F assisted in calling for certain pitches that stymied the K-men. The Birds pulled off 2 DPs and had a 3rd but a blown umpire call negated it. Shot gun Steve V returned from a 3-week absence as he manages his son's traveling team, winning 2 tournaments and losing the 3rd Championship weekend as #1 seed wins on a last inning ending HR.

 

Today's attendance was 8, and included the Eagles very own Head Cheerleader, Noname Ellen  The 28 E-hits had every player getting 1 or more.   Joe R hit for the 4's, going 4-4, 4 runs, 4 Rbis, and errorless LF; Joining him was RC'er Brian U, 4-4, 2 runs, 2 Rbis, returning from the DL muscle pull.

Not to be out done, Craig V wacked 3 for 3, 4 runs, 1 walk - after driving from FL to NY workwise.  Flash Wilkey was 3-3, 4 Runs, walk, 4 RBIs, and 3-run dinger, HOMERUN, batting 4th now, And, Rookie Austin, picked up via the National Softball Portal (by head scout Ed K) was 3-3, 3 runs, 5 Rbi's. The unsigned player signed a 3-year contract at the end of game. 

 

2 hit Agents were Steve V + walk;  rookie Brian G;  Chris P + a monmouth HR to dead CF, + 3 rbi;  George V, + 2 rbi, it is said -- he can pitch, he can hit, he can run, and he can WIN.  Others, with 1 hit plus are Ira, Louis, Charlie. Todays Dud Award goes to Skipper Angelo B with another ground out, back to pitcher.  The Eagles led all game as they scored 5 - 4 - 1 - 8 runs in the first 4 inns to go up 18-4. The Knights battled all game, getting on men but could not move them to score.

 

Remember no game next week, 7/7, as the mid-season AllStar game is played at Old Hook Mountain Complex, Blue Sky, NY.  
 

DEADHEADS WIN! THEEE DEADHEADS WINN!
 Seven up,seven down! Heads travel to Western NY( Orchard Hills, Buffalo) and roll a Seven! In so doing the Heads continue to soar with the Eagles.( remaining in first place tie.)
 Sporting a sexy sleeveless shirt, Tom(Artful Dodgers’ Manager/Pitcher) made a valiant effort but , alas the powerful Heads’ lineup proved to be too much on this hot and sunny day.
 Leading the charge were; Eric- 3 hits (double),Eli- 3 hits( double), Tony-3 hits,Orlando-3 hits and Brandon - 3hits( double and H.R)
 As usual, lights out pitching by “ our”Tom, backed up by great Defense nailed down the victory.
 Good game Dodgers. …..Always fun.

The Mavericks notched their 5th victory of the 2024 season by holding off the upstart Parlays.

The Mavs struck for three runs in their top of the 1st. Jeff(3-3,2RS,BB) led off with a walk, Kevin's single(3-4,2RS,2B) advanced Jeff. Nelson(2-4,RS,2B,RBI) plated Jeff. The frame continued with hits by Morgan 2.0(2-4,RBI), Morgan 1.0(2-4,RS) and Jon G's(2-3) Clutch RBI 3-0.

The Parlays replied with two runs of the own to make the score 3-2. The visiting team plated a solo run in their top of the 2nd with Spank leading off with a base knock, Charlie "Tuna's" (1-2, Sac RBI) single put Spank in scoring position. Bregs' hit(1-3,RBI) brought Spank home. 

Score: 4-2. The Parlays played their cards right and tied the scored at 4 a piece in the bottom of the 2nd. The Mavericks came right back and added two more runs in the top of the 3rd. Mike T "Steel" (2-3,2RS) led off with the first of his two hits on the day, Jeff singled, Kevin caused an E-5 which advanced the runners and  Rock plated Mike T & Jeff. Score: 6-4. Starting pitcher Rick Lheld the Parlays to no payoffs in the 3rd, 4th & 5th innings. Steady D by the Mavs helped. The Mavs were also held scoreless in the 4th,5th, & 6th frames. Still 6-4. The Parlays gambled and scored a single run in the bottom of the 6th to bring them within one run. An unlucky 7th inning only produced 1 run for the visitors. Morgan 1.0 singled and scored on Charlie's Sac Fly. Score:7-5. Rick shut out the home team in the bottom of the 7th. Mavericks could not wager any offense in the top of the 8th. The Parlays dropped three runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 8th. Nelson made a game saving catch in the outfield to end the threat. But the score was 8-7 Parlays. The Mavs responded in the top of the 9th when Mike T(Steel) led off again with a base knock, Kevin's wringing 2B advanced Mike T to 3B, followed by Nelson & Morgan 2.0's RBI base hits to drive in Steel and Kevin to go ahead by one. Score: 9-8.  Rick notched the Mavericks 5th win of the season by keeping the opponent from winning the hand in the bottom of the 9th.
