[Eagles and Parlays play 2]: Game 1, AA Eagles win 19-3. The All-American Eagles won both games versus the hard luck Parlays 19-3, and 16-6, at the North Field complex
In game 1, every Bird had 1 hit or more to back Winning Pitcher, George V, who allowed in 5 inns, 3 runs, with another great shut-down.
The Skipper summed up his team. Craig, 3-4, 3 runs, rbi, best game of year; Wilkey, 3-3, walk, 3 rbi, runs faster than a bullet; Chris, 2-3, 2 rbi, was he on vacation ?; Joe, 3-4, 2 rbi, lots of heart, not a bad baseball player too; George, 1-2, 2 sacs, 2 rbi, the man is like the ever-ready battery; Austin 1-3, rbi, working his way in from mid-season add on; Brian U, 1-3, having best season of career; Louis 2-3, rbi, steady officer, sir, and teaching Spanish to the Skipper; Ira 1-2, walk, rbi, awesome at 1b too; Charlie, 1-3, this guy is iron man Charlie behind that plate; Ed K, 3-3, 2 rbi, whew, hot hitter and gamers; Brian G, 3-3, 3 runs, 3 rbi, hottest hitter last 4 games, he bats, he hits;
Game 2, AA Eagles win 16-6
Winning Pricher, the 'ever ready battery ' George V, another masterpiece, throwing 7 inns, with a stall in the 6th, 4 runs allowed, but finishing strong in the 7th.
Again, hitting was torrid, 18 hits, 2 walks, and a solid defense, 1 error.
The leader is Flash Wilkey 3-4, 3 runs, 6 rbi, 2D, 1T. 2 hit agents were Craig V, Brian G, Chris P (back from vacation), George V 1-2, sac, rbi, our ever-ready battery; Brian U, Ed K (back from 1.5 years DL, has almost as many hits as days on DL), but not the Skipper (0-1)!
[Deadheads slay the Knights]: For the tenth consecutive time….Deadheads win! THHHE DEADHEADS WIN! Heads continue to roll, slaying the Knights twice ; the first by Mercy and escaping with a come from behind victory ,via last inning rally in the nightcap.
On the hill was Tom P. Need I say more? Solid defense once again backed him up.Outstanding play by Val and Brandon,as well as a sensational over the head grab by Marc and two Double plays turned by Eric ,thwarted the Knights time and time again.
Although every Head contributed to the offensive onslaught ,the following players stood out: Eric (3-5 with a triple, HR, walk and 4 RBIS.),Nedward ( hit for cycle in the Double Header,going 4-5 with a walk and 3 RBIs)Marc (5-5 with a Sac and 6 RBIs) and Larry ( 4-5 with 2 triples and 5 RBIs)
The Heads took an early lead in game one and never looked back. The second game was quite another story as the Knights took the lead in the 4th and carried it into the 7th and final frame. With the team record winning streak ( and currently longest in the league)on the line, the Heads reached down deep (intestinal fortitude) and much to the chagrin ( inside joke) of the Knights,scored 5 times to take a 12-8 lead. The Knights, playing valiantly ( as Knights are known to do) scored once more in the bottom of the 7th before coming up short. Good games,Knights.
What’s next? A long anticipated showdown at the “Garage “ for sole possession of first place against the high flying BEagles. We hope to keep the streak alive and to avenge a heartbreaking early season loss, at their hands (talons). You’ve heard of the Rumble in the Jungle? Well, this has the makings of the Barrage at the Garage. Stay tuned. Good luck Angelo/ BEagles. :)
