Welcome back teams, players and loyal fans! The torch is lit and the games have begun. Good luck everyone and be safe!

Week 3 (05/11) was Mother's Day and yet teams found time to get 9 innings in early before joining the family to honor Mom.

DIVISION 2 Game Recaps

[Eagles soar over Panthers - ABasso Reporting]: The Panthers started off hot and it was 5-5 after 4 inns; might the Panthers set sites on clipping the Bird's wings ? Not today, as the Eagles punched across 3 and 9 runs in the next 2 inns to take control. George Vansise won his 3rd game, again going the distance and kept his pitch count at 199 pitches and no walks

The Flying Eagles had 21 runs, 31 hits, 52 at bats for .596 average, 1 walk (Hawkeye Craig Vansise), 1 Sac, 1 towering HR-3 run Dinger by Chris Pellegrinelli; Chris 3-run wallop was halfway up the tree (100 feet) in LC to the Eagles Bleacher nests, some 415 feet away; his only hit too)

The hits came strong, especially in the 9 run 10 hit 6th inn; Some of the standouts were Austin Kelly, 4-4, 3 rbi; Both 4-5 and 1 rbi each: Wilkey Jimenez and Jeff Lieberman; and 3 hit agents: Vic Grullen, Billy Robinson, Dennis Tarantino, and George

Special Mentions: Happy Birthday George today who hit 60; to date, pitching, 3 games, 3-0, 20 runs, runs per game 6.67 (phenomenal); has thrown 605 ytd pitches. Defense Play of Gem - streaming liner at LF Joe Raia, who had to reach up for the 10-foot catch and fight off the Sun too

However, it was frustrating to watch the 'kids' make 10 mental errors. Attendance was 1, not counting the 37 Eagles up the OF trees; the game was carried live over the E channel for those who did not want to fight the heavy Mothers' Day traffic. In what has turned into an Eagle tradition, this day doubled as the Eagle Red Rose Day as all wives and ladies received a Red Rose.

[Deaheads notch 1st W vs ODB - MElba Reporting]:  Deadheads win! Theeee DEADHEADS WIN!!
After two disappointing lackluster performances to start the season the Heads finally put one in the win column against a tough and resilient O.D.B squad.
The Offense was led by  Eric(4-4 with a Double,Triple and several RBI’s) and our Military contingent of Brandon (Ralph), Ned(Nedward) and Eli. Eli went 4-4, including a Double, HR,3RBI’s. Brandon hit a Triple and used his gun of an arm to throw multiple players out. Ned went 4-4 with a Triple, HR and 3 RBI’s , along with several great plays in Center.
Larry added 2 hits and 2 RBI’s  Orlando ( Gordo) had 2 hits and an RBI.Marc P. collected two hits and an RBI. Lee chipped in with a pair of hits, as well. In all we had 17 runs on 18 hits. Tony  put on a clinic at 1B and Tom , despite giving up 10 runs ( most were unearned), pitched .great.
For the 3rd straight week the Heads ,usual stellar defense fell apart for one unexplainable inning. This time, however,we were able to regroup and come away with the victory. Great comeback attempt by Eric H . and his squad. They’re a great group of guys and it was a fun game.
Next up- A dangerous Panthers team, hungry for their first victory. Good luck guys.
