[Eagles edge ODB 15-13 - Reported by ABasso]: True guts came out big-time for these 2 teams. Eagles go up 6-0, then 6-6 after 3 inns; ODB up by 1 at 4 inns; but then the Birds squeaked ahead for good, 8-7, 10-9, 14-12, 15-12, 15-13, final, whewww a tough win, a tough lost.
The Birds had 24 hits, 4 walks, and scored in 6 of 9 innings over the ODB'ers who scored in 5 innings. Brain U was 3-4, 2 rbi; Austin K was 3-5, 4 rbi, with a long drive double; Mike L is 4-5; Ed K was 2-4.
The Skipper came up with yet another niffy lineup, and the adjustments came true. Craig continues to raise his BA, looking like his old form in a new spot; Joe R in the 4-spot now, was 2-5, and a solid LF; plus, defensive juggling of Brian U held down 3B; Brian G returned from the DL and went to RC, unfortunately Luis V had to pull himself out due to hernia disks; Dennis T went to 1B as Austin had to cover RF now; and the dynamic duo of 2B'ers Mike L and Ed K played like goalies getting Assist after Assist, several from their knees. And continuing the good showing, Jeff L 3-5, and Charlie the Fisherman 2-4.
The Birds had to overcome their bad habits, lack of discipline with 17 fly outs recorded, and a new habit of the "tennis swing" (slapping the ball over their head) !
Pitching, George V had to tough it out as several "to be" outs were poorly placed and made him get 4-5 outs in several innings. After taking the lead after 5 inns, though, George never trailed, and the team closed out strong.
