[Eagles stay hot, edge Panthers - ABasso Reporting]: In another season tight game for the Eagles, a 7-3 lead became 11-11 as the Panthers scored 5 in the bottom 8th to tie the score. Top of 9th the Birds pushed across 5 runs themselves and took the lead 16-11 and held on 16-13.

Every Eagle contributed with hits and walks. Leadoff Batter Brian U was 3-4, Chris P went 2-3, 3 rbi and a towering HR (2 run blast); SS Wilken (made-up for some sloppy infield play) went 3-4, 5 rbi, including a 3-run HR; Craig V working his way out of an early season slump was 2-3. Other 2 hit agents were George V, and Jeff L. 

George V held tough as he fought his way through a formable Panther team who got his number all game. The Birds had 20 hits, 4 walks, and scored in 6 of 9 innings over the Panthers who scored in 5 innings. Unfortunately, Ed K has a slight pull in his prior shoulder injury, and Louis V is fighting 2 hernia discs, The Eagles have been down 3-4 players for the last 2 games !  The Skipper keeps coming up with game-by-game lineups and 78 runs were produced the last 4 games.

Defensively, steady LF Joe R continues to work his catching magic as he caught 2 unbelievable catches, one a running in sliding basket catch and another going deep to his glove side to haul in a diving back handed catch, Whew, all sighed.   Again, the Birds had to overcome their bad habits. Fly ball outs were reduced 50% (good), but ground ball errors and 3 mental lapses (bad) plagued the defense. However, clutch 3rd out heroics saved the day, with 2 key DPs.

Heads roll to their first two game winning streak of the season, in convincing fashion. Hitting stars were; Eli(4-4 with a walk,triple and 4RBI’s) Val(* I was remiss last week in not including his 3-5 performance. He followed up today with 3-4,a walk and 3RBI’s)Brandon Ralph (3-5,3RBI’s),Eric(3-5,2RBI’s),Tony (3-5,3RBI’s) Mike;; (4-6/5)* inside joke,and Nedward ( 3-5,2RBI’s).
Some good defensive plays and clutch Pitching from Tom rounded out the victory. Good job Heads! Let’s continue to roll. Thanks for a fun game,ODB. On a non- softball note, thanks to Rick Stein and his lovely wife for hosting this bunch of freaks, after the game.  Next up- rematch against the Panthers. Good luck guys.
